A lot of water has passed under the bridge--so to speak-- from thirty plus years ago when we first explored the city with Aunt Ruth while we were engaged. (One thing hasn't changed-- the ocean breeze!!)
The lovely view from our hotel room and the streets we walked and walked and walked late into the night--memories of Paris! All the walking certainly makes one hungry--all these years of waiting to return to the crabpots on the Wharf--my little bit of heaven on earth!
No trip to San Fran is complete with a trip to ChinaTown--we made it out with buying only two polar fleece jackets because it was freezing--As Mark Twain said "the coldest winter I ever spent was a summer in San Francisco!"
Art, chocolate and a trolley car--what a way to end the day!
Crossing the Golden Gate Bridge has always been on Steve's bucket list--so 9 miles and 3 1/2 hours later we crossed it off. Can I only say that I was not exactly feeling my inner Zen up there especially with the suicide watch signs dotting the route--I don't think anyone has ever jumped, they have simply been blown off!
Now my bucket list on the other hand includes walking around Sausalito, home of one of my favorite authors, Anne Lamott. It was beautiful, and quaint and provided a little soul food--and a romantic Saturday with my soulmate--who has spent so much time here in the past many years without me.

What a fun, spur of the moment trip! Very well deserved I'm sure! I hadn't seen the pictures of the moose either! Very cool!
Looks like fun! I absolutely love SanFran. Definitely reminds me of Europe in some ways!
You've wet my whistle for San Francisco. The one time I went there with dad was one of my favorite memories of all time and now I want to go back. I love your old picture. So retro and cool. And that crab is making my mouth water. I might have to go out for seafood tomorrow. So what is dad pointing out in the picture?
Thanks for your nice comments on my blog. I am glad I can inspire you with color b/c you inspire me daily with your fabulous writing. Someday I hope to be able to express my thoughts half as well as you.
Can't wait to see you soon. Love you.
I commented once, but it disappeared into cyber space somewhere. Anyway, I loved your awesome post. I love San Francisco. Between your blog and Jessica's blog, though, I really need to travel somewhere. And, I appreciate you representing our generation so well in the blogging world. You can do things with pictures I'd never even try. It looks great, and it sounds like the trip was really fun.
Weekend getaways are the best! Glad you were able to go with Steve and be his California wife, too! Did you walk across the bridge or bike or what? Or is there so much traffic it takes 3 1/2 hours?? Looks like you packed alot into a short time, but sometimes those are the best days!
